#WWFUgSchoolDebates; School Going Children Discuss Conservation Pathways

WWF in Uganda held the first ever debate competitions that saw about 400 teenagers and youths from the Rwenzori region participate.
The participants included members of both Wildlife and debate clubs from the 11 schools of the five districts around Rwenzori Mountains National Park.The competition provided a platform where young people engaged in the conservation debate and shaped the future of conservation efforts in their communities.
Kithobira Primary School emerged the winners of the Primary level competition and Kasese Secondary School lifted the trophy for the secondary level competition.
The event was graced by the Principal Education Officer of Kasese Municipality, Seith Aheebwa accompanied by Chief Warden for Rwenzori Mountains National Park (RMNP), John Tibesigwa.
Other guests included; Coordinator for Wildlife Clubs of Uganda, Immaculate Atuheire, Warden Tourism for RMNP, Geoffrey Twinomuhangi among others.
The chief guest appreciated the WWF approach of nurturing young people into conservation.
The Chief Warden emphasized that young people are the right groups to target to guarantee a nature friendly generation.
