The recent COVID-19 crisis, principally a zoonotic disease spill-over which was instigated by the world’s increasingly disrupted relationship with nature, is but another wake-up call to the world. The call for ‘Green Recovery’ and ‘Building Forward Better’ is a sign that indeed the world, including Africa, is increasingly aware of the need to define and adopt development trajectories that do not jeopardize our long term planetary health.
